Set ten years after The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones finds the
Star Wars galaxy in a state of civil war as Separatists, lead by ex-Jedi Knight Count Dooku, try to undermine the Republic.
Padme Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, returns to the Galactic
Senate on Coruscant, to vote on the critical issue of creating a cloned army for the Republic to assist the overwhelmed peacekeepers, the Jedi Knights.
Obi-wan Kenobi and his Padawan apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, are
reunited with Padme for the first time since the Trade Federation’s invasion of Naboo, and are assigned to protect the Senator when she is targeted for assassination.
Obi-Wan’s investigation of the threat on Padme’s life leads him to the
planet Kamino. There he discovers a cloning facility and finds that the Republic’s cloned army has already been secretly produced, having been commissioned by a dead Jedi Master a decade ago. Obi-Wan is
then introduced to the army’s template, bounty hunter Jango Fett...
Meanwhile, Anakin is left to guard Padme, who he escorts back to
Naboo, where they find themselves increasingly attracted to each other. Then, troubled dreams of his mother draw Anakin to his own homeworld of Tattooine, where an event awaits him that marks the
start of his journey towards the Dark Side…
